Kaleidoscope of Colorful Leaves on Mt. Lemmon: The LAOI Group Enjoys A Fall Trip
The Land-Atmosphere-Ocean Interactions group (LAOI), led by HAS Professor Xubin Zeng, took a trip up Mt. Lemmon over the Halloween weekend to enjoy the autumn leaves and fall colors before the season ends.
It is often said that 'timing is everything', which rang true for the group as they caught the best that Mt. Lemmon has to offer in terms of scenery and weather. But they still don’t know if and how the leaf colors affect the land surface albedo!
Speaking of timing, the group coincidentally ran into Dr. Ali Behrangi (photo, left) joined by family and friends...!
The group stopped in Summerhaven for lunch before embarking on a 3.6 mile hike along the Marshall Gulch - Aspen Trail loop at the top of the mountain (photo, right).
On the hike, they continued to appreciate the turning of the leaves, shared stories and snacks, and even sang songs while marching through the forest.
On their adventure, they visited the old HAS High Altitude Laboratory (HAL) at an altitude of 9020 ft (photo, left). New usages of this facility need to be found!
The LAOI group finished the day by visiting Windy Point after sunset to look over the beautiful city we call home (photo, right).
Truly a day to remember!
