We enjoy a city lifestyle with a small town vibe ...
Tucson is a great city that feels like a small town. It's a friendly, close-knit community with a vibrant mix of cultures that we celebrate--a lot! Check out our Festivals & Annual Events, Arts & Entertainment scene, and our growing population of Murals and Wall Art!
And what to do with 300+ days of sunshine? We cycle The Loop, all in preparation for the annual El Tour de Tucson.
... we have a great outdoor life
Recharge in a breathtaking desert landscape, hike the sky islands, and appreciate an uninterrupted (dark) night sky. If you wonder why our neighborhoods are dark at night, astronomy is a big deal in this town. Get started on campus with a visit to Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium or the Mirror Lab. If you're into serious stargazing, try nighttime visits to the Mount Lemmon SkyCenter Observatory and Kitt Peak National Observatory.
We also live in a semi-arid desert basin surrounded by mountain ranges--the Santa Catalinas, Rincons, Santa Ritas, Tortilitas, and the Tucsons--so, if mountains are your thing, a drive up to Mount Lemmon (or a climb up) will make you feel right at home.
... and we understand food
We were the first city in the US to be designated as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and we support urban seed to table education, sustainable agriculture, heritage gardening, and indigenous food culture in so many ways. For more than 40 years, Native Seed/SEARCH has stewarded the heritage seeds of the desert Southwest and Mexico, and, annually, we taste our way through town at Tucson Meet Yourself.
