Talk by Julia K. Green from UA Environmental Science: Vegetation and the land surface

When

11:50 a.m. to 1:10 p.m., April 5, 2023

Where

(In-Person and Remote) Julia K. Green, Assistant Professor, UArizona Department of Environmental Science will talk about Vegetation and the land surface.

Abstract  This talk will review the themes that guide Dr. Green’s work, outline how her research ties to hydrology and atmospheric sciences, and conclude by reviewing a current project of hers utilizing land surface temperature data to constrain ecohydrological processes in Earth System Models.

Bio  Dr. Green is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science. Prior to coming here, she had been working as a postdoctoral researcher with Dr. Trevor Keenan at UC Berkeley, as well as Philippe Ciais and Ashley Ballantyne at LSCE in France. She completed her PhD with Pierre Gentine as a NASA PhD fellow at Columbia University in 2019. Her work revolves around themes of biosphere-atmosphere feedbacks, and using remote sensing and model data to understand how our ecosystems are responding to climate variability in a changing climate. In her spare time, you can find her outside cycling, hiking or exploring new places with her boyfriend and dog.
