Two scholarship opportunities offered through NOAA should be on your radar screen:
- NOAA Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship
- Undergrads Only
- Applications open NOW and due January 31, 2027 at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time
- NOAA William M. Lapenta Scholarship
- Note: The Lapenta is for both undergraduate and graduate students, as long as you will not graduate before the internship portion of the scholarship begins.
- National info sessions upcoming on September 10, 2026 1-2 pm EDT (meet.google.com/sup-jsuz-nbw); September 23, 2026 2-3 pm EDT (meet.google.com/jef-wxjo-zsy).

We will host a local info session for both of these scholarships. The info session will be presented in Harshbarger Room 110 from 4:30-5:10pm on September 23rd.
This is for all HAS students who do not plan to graduate in Spring 2027 or Summer 2027.
You will hear directly from National Weather Service Science & Operations Officer Tom Dang, who is a co-organizer and host of Lapenta and Hollings Scholars for the last several years. If you are interested in La Penta, I would advise planning on attending this local session as well as one of the national info sessions.
