Expertise I research improvements to solar and wind power forecasts developed for regional utility companies in the Southwest US. To enhance forecast accuracy, we use a combination of WRF modeling, post-processing, satellite data, and real-time telemetry from utility-scale power generation sites. We then integrate forecast developments into our operational forecast systems. Accurate and reliable power forecasts enable our regional utility sponsors to participate in the Western Energy Imbalance Market and help make better-informed decisions for site operations and management.
Catagories of Expertise: Atmospheric Modeling, Numerical Weather Prediction, Operational Forecasting for Solar and Wind Power Generation
