HASSA would like to welcome Dr. Kim Wood to our next installment of the HASSA Speaker Series on Wednesday, October 25th from 4-5pm on Zoom (see your email for link).
Dr. Kim Wood is a new associate professor in HAS but not a stranger to Tucson, having received their M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in atmospheric sciences from the University of Arizona. Dr. Wood will talk about open-source tools relevant to atmospheric science and related careers within and beyond academia, using examples from their research on hurricanes and from their teaching and outreach efforts. They will also share resources for those interested in learning more about the tools they discuss (such as Linux and Python).

We highly encourage students, staff, and faculty to attend, especially those who are interested in open-source tools like Python/Linux and those who missed Dr. Wood's colloquium talk. For those of you who cannot attend, this meeting will be recorded. The structure of this talk will be 20-25 minutes of a presentation from Dr. Wood with the remainder of the time for questions/discussion. We hope to see you all there!
