Expected Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, a student will have the necessary skills to:

  1. Demonstrate competence to a high degree in the fundamental area of dynamic meteorology
  2. Demonstrate competence to a high degree in the fundamental area of physical meteorology
  3. Demonstrate competence to a high degree in one or more sub-disciplinary focal areas, such as atmospheric chemistry and aerosols, lightning and atmospheric electricity, radiation and remote sensing, tropical meteorology and tropical cyclones, data assimilation, and weather analysis and forecasting AND competence in a minor (complementary) area of study in support of doctoral-level research
  4. Demonstrate an advanced ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  5. Demonstrate professional competency to a high degree with multiple research tools used in atmospheric sciences, such as data analysis, visualization software, and scientific computer programming
