HASSA will be hosting their first speaker of this year's Speaker Series on Thursday, Nov 14, from 5PM to 6PM on zoom. Tomorrow's speaker is Michael Lowry who will be discussing his academic and professional experiences throughout his atmospheric science career. We encourage students, staff, and faculty to attend! This meeting will be recorded for anyone who is unable to attend. If you have any questions or concerns, please email our Outreach Chair Ander Ortiz. We hope to see you all there!
A personal journey within Atmospheric Science
Michael Lowry is a hurricane specialist and storm surge expert currently working for Local 10 News station in South Florida. He has over 20 years of experience in the field holding a range of occupations from Senior Emergency Management Specialist for FEMA to Lead Scientist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami. He is also the recipient of the 2013 National Hurricane Conference Outstanding Achievement Award in Meteorology. Lowry holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in meteorology from Florida State University. He is excited to talk about his experience and journey within the field of meteorology and is looking forward to additional discussions and questions!
