5-Year NASA Project "ACTIVATE" Ready for Takeoff

Feb. 20, 2019

Joint HAS Professor Armin Sorooshian, PI, and HAS Professor Xubin Zeng, Deputy PI, recently met with the full NASA ACTIVATE team at NASA's Langley Research Center to begin their $30M five-year collaborative project to study cloud-aerosol interactions over the western Atlantic. Two NASA research aircraft (shown above) will gather measurements from above, below, and within clouds over the western North Atlantic Ocean. Their investigation will focus on marine boundary layer clouds that play a critical role in our planet's energy balance.

In an effort not to be late for their meetings, Sorooshian and Zeng ordered a quick breakfast on the run...only to arrive too early--which resulted in "breakfast in the car."
