Abstract
This week's seminar is the second panel discussion in the HAS Parade of Stars series. Our panelists will discuss the current knowledge gaps in Aerosols, Clouds, and Precipitation fields and briefly introduce their efforts to fill these knowledge gaps. In detail, Dr. Behrangi will discuss how he uses diverse data sets, including satellite, airborne, in situ, reanalysis, and climate models, to estimate and analyze high latitude precipitation. Dr. Dong will introduce his innovative research in aerosols, clouds, radiation precipitation, and their interactions from ground-based and satellite remote sensing. Dr. Xi will present her research in developing sophisticated algorithms to interpolate cloud and radiative propertise from multi-platform and multi-instrument observations. Dr. Sorooshian will introduce his research in air quality and aerosols-cloud-precipitation-meteorology interactions and discuss his innovative exploration of integrating aerosols research into medical research. Finally, our panelists will discuss potential opportunities to advance study in Aerosols, Clouds, and Precipitation.
