Abstract

This week's seminar is the third panel discussion in the HAS Parade of Stars series. Our panelists will discuss the current knowledge gaps in Earth system prediction and briefly introduce their advances in this field. In detail, Dr. Arellano will introduce his innovative research in modeling atmospheric composition across scales. Dr. Zeng will introduce his research accomplishment in quantifying and understanding regional and global water cycles. Dr. Condon will present her research in integrated hydrologic modeling. Dr. Niu will discuss his innovative advance in modeling the land components of Earth system models. Dr. Song will introduce her exploration in integrating multi-scale data to predict climate resilience of the biosphere and its potential application in mitigating climate change. Finally, our panelists will discuss potential opportunities of applying deep learning in advancing study in Earth system prediction.
