Announcement for the Assistant Research Professor Position
The successful applicant will provide overall scientific leadership for the renewable energy forecasting group including a) using the Weather Research and Forecasting computer model to make short-term and long term forecasts of PV power for utility companies; b) working with utility companies to receive, analyze and disseminate energy data; c) developing, deploying, and managing ground-based irradiance sensors to improve PV forecasts.

Duties & Responsibilities
•Improve the accuracy of renewable energy forecasts using the WRF computer model and other data.
•Maintain excellent relationships with private sector clients.
•Supervise the work of graduate students.
•Publish the results of research in peer-reviewed literature.
•Perform other related duties as assigned to meet department, college and university goals and objectives.
•Ph.D. in physics, atmospheric sciences or a closely related field.
•At least two years of postdoctoral research experience in the field of renewable energy forecasting.
•At least two years experience working with the WRF computer model.
•Strong working knowledge of computer programming, including Python.
•Ability to work well with a team and with minimal supervision.
•Strong communication skills.
