Congratulations to Jen McIntosh who was recently interviewed for Arizona Science, Arizona Public Media's radio show. Dr. Tim Swindle, Director of the UA Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, interviewed McIntosh during NPR's Science Friday broadcast. In Episode 206, The Cost of Energy Independence, broadcast on November 1, she discussed hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," a method for natural gas extraction that has become popular over the past 15 years. Because more traditional methods of pulling up energy-producing materials from beneath the planet's surface may be more damaging to the environment, she is researching how extraction techniques take their toll on groundwater.

Kudos, Jen!
